I am thrilled to announce that the HAUC App has been honoured with the prestigious Site Safety Initiative Award at the Annual Highways Awards which took place on Wed 11th Oct 23 at the Park Plaza Hotel in London. This achievement is a testament to 5 years of dedicated effort beginning with the visionary idea from Jerry McConkey (former chair HAUC (UK)) and Tom Lambert from MGroup. We received vital support through a funding bid from Paul Chandler at Westminster Council via the TFL lane rental scheme. This enabled GeoPlace, working with Idox and HAUC (UK) to develop the App and turn the idea into a reality.
The HAUC App has revolutionised the way we approach safety and compliance in highway operations. It empowers our operatives in the field and office planners alike by providing easy access to the Safety Code and other comprehensive support. This accessibility has not only assisted in our infield delivery but has facilitated improvements in our compliance standards and site safety protocols. Moreover, the app now also plays a role in supporting vulnerable road users through user-friendly guides and facilitating other processes in Street and Road works delivery such as reinstatement by providing an easily searchable version of the SROH. Much of the content is provided by our members in particular MGroup and Cadent who continue to support this project and assist with Testing the functionality.
We have continuously enriched the app by incorporating essential documents, legislative links, and leveraging the platform for surveys and safety updates. Currently, the HAUC App boasts over 6,000 monthly users, with many utilities opting for it as a standard download on their work mobiles. We are committed to further enhancing the app's capabilities. Your feedback is invaluable, so please feel free to reach out to us via the app with any suggestions or features you'd like to see added.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support. This award is not just a recognition of the HAUC App but also a tribute to the efforts of everyone at GeoPlace and the HAUC (UK) safety groups. Their relentless dedication to promoting a safer working world has made this achievement possible.
And the best news is there are more great developments to come!
